Mauritius

Hi guys

I'm going to north mauritius for my honeymoon. I would like to throw a dropshot or 2. I don't care for marlin fishing. I would just like to catch a few species on dropshot from the side or on a small boat just on the outside of the reef. I would be taking a 7ft aerocast and a stradic 5000 loaded with 20lb braid. Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

I took my setup with my when i went a year ago. Didnt get a bite or catch squat. Maybe i just tried the wrong areas...

Took my rod, spinners and dropshots. Did not get a bite.
The lagoon inside the reef is fished out and the locals fish with very small hooks and take all fish, no matter what size. While snorkeling I never saw 1 decent size fish.
If you want to try take small lures and spinners.

Troll a curly tail grubb in white behind a pedalo or when you go on the glass bottom boat. Have caught trumpet fish, rock cod, pike and small kingfish. Paddle tail lures also worked well. There is small boats for hire which is not to expensive.
Tight lines
