Laatjie

I've seen this lingo used in several posts now.

What is it?

'Lighty' or abbreviated version of 'laat lammetjie'

Any clarity will be greatly appreciated!!!

You okes are spelling it wrong... it's LAAITIE, NO j in it, otherwise it (laatjie) would be pronounced LAAIKIE? As far as I'm aware, it stems from the Cape... what the coloured community would affectionately call their children. A different version of LIGHTY.

Reefman,

You are correct with the spelling LAAITIE. Just spent many hours looking it up. If it were of cape malay origin it would be spelled laaitjie, and they would pronounce it laai-t-jie.
