Using Flurocarbon Lines as a leader

Hi Guys

I've been noticing recently that when i go bassing i struggle to get bites whilst fishing. I see the bass but they ignore my offering. After doing some reading i decided to buy a spool of fluorocarbon line to use as a leader which fishing lures - "Trying to become invisible". It seems that many are pro fluoro and many hate it. I would love to hear your experience.

Thanks Guys & Enjoy the Holidays

Hi Ayoba

That's exactly what i wanted to know. Based on your post you are pro fluorocarbon. Do you use Fluorocarbon as your main line or just as your leader:? Do you use Fluorocarbon with fishing both hard baits and soft baits?

Thanks Ayoba. What rating of line do you use as your mainline and fluoro? Also what knot do you use for joining mono to Fluoro?

Thanks for sharing.

here is my 2c for bass fishing.

Love fluoro, personally i don't use anything thicker than 12lb dependent on water clarity. not just the leader but entire mainline. to save some money use mono backing and only fluoro on the top 50m (i hardly use more line than this when bass fishing - prefer the fluoro long enough so i don't cast out the joining knot). It has much less stretch and memory resulting in much more sensitivity and better hook sets, it is also more abrasion resistant than mono or braid. also sinks which is excellent for fishing weightless but not so good for top water presentations (use mono for top water).

joining them - double uni or albright knot.

It takes a session or two to get use to it, and it's difficult to go back to mono after. i also find the fluoro to be much stronger than the mono.

btw it might not be your line that they are scared of but rather you.. they see you long before you see them.. got to be ninja sometimes!

Hope this helps.

Now where did you find that spool for R100??!!???!!??((wideeye))

R100 for the Fluoro - Pure Luck. I walked into a Mias to buy some worms and saw a stack of Fluoro boxes marked down. They were actually marked down to R199, but i found this one box at R100.

Thanks for the advise on using Fluoro. I found two links that made a good read on the subject.
