Just before the Daiwa fans skin me alive, I have to come clean and admit that I'm a "draadsitter" that use and love my Daiwa and Shimano reels !
In the case of the Saltist, the magbrakes come in two formats to fit the recess inside the rightside of the frame - one model for the 20/30 sizes and another one for the 35/40/50 sizes.
As the magbrake is in close proximity to the spool, you normally only need one or two magnets.
The choice to fit it in that position was brought about by the very "busy" left sideplate containing the centrifugal flange and ring.
Now you might wonder why fit the magbrake in a reel that comes with cntrfg cast control ?
It started when someone who had a reel without any cast control system, magged and then liked the feel and sound of that reel, way more than the reel with original cntrfg control and asked me to mag that reel as well - since then we have magged many reels that came with cntrfg control and just slipped the little blocks off.
Hope this is the correct pic for Saltist 20/30 sizes ?((goodp_
