Pinnacle Point - Access

I could not find much info when I did a search on SL.

I live in Dana Bay but due to my profession, I am only there 2-3 times a year. Here is my question.

How can I get to the cliffs (kranse) that makes up the coastal border of Pinnacle Point easily. Can one drive there through the golf estate or Casino area. Are we allowed to get access to go fishing?

Walking along the shore from Dana Bay is quite an effort and distance, and for this 50yo to do this on a regular basis is just not on...

Can someone shed some light please?

Oh, and also, can one get access into the Vleesbaai gated community area to the old Caravan park and swimming beach area? I see there are some awesome spots there.

Potevan one can access the cliffs through Pinnacle golf course but need to get a card for this. Shawn Mey can give you more info on how to get the card. Once you get the card you park your vehicle in the parking at Pinnacle point and they will take you to and fetch you from the cliffs.

I may add I am also in my early 50s, working abroad and will get my card during my next visit to SA in October. That walk from Dana bay is a killer!

I realise that this is an old post, but the last time I went there I just had to show my fishing licence at the gate security where they book you in.You still have to leave your vehicle outside at the parking by the gate, then they take you down to the beach with a 4x4 quad type buggy...you then sign back out at a security checkpoint at the bottom, because you're then basicly leaving their property again to fish. When you're done fishing you ask the security to radio in,for you to be picked up,at the same checkpoint...be prepared to wait a while,as the "buggy"only comes to fetch fisherman when there's enough that want to return(it's not going to come fetch only 1 guy),unless you're lucky enough to time it so that you can return when it drops some more fisherman...sorry if things have changed but I was also told to get a card and didn't need one, perhaps it's changed since I was last there...b.t.w. we got some nice leeries(6-10kg)at Oysterbay(die gat)on live mullet,I'll try and add a pic...cast into the bay,you should get cracker and reef-fish here too...

For Pinnacle you go to the police station accross santos and ask for Otus. Give him a copy of your fishing lisence and id. He will then sign your id photocopy. Drive to pinnacle and stop at the offices to your left. They will make your card there for you within 2min.

They will transport you to where you want to be. West side is called oysterbay and east side I dont know but its more cliff type area. You can also fish below the clubhouse.

Vleesbaai we just drive in and say we are going fishing....

Below Mosselbay and towards the cliffs at the lighthouse things become a bit more "woes" as oom charles will tell you he has been down there with us before.

If I'm home I will be glad to go and show you the spots I know, we live on mosselbay golfcourse and fish down there regularly.

I did afterall catch a 1,2kg strepie down there lol.
