first thing would be to remove the level wind from the reel... a long drop, big fast swing and aim high

What distance are you currently casting.

i find that balance/footing plays a big role in the distance you achieve.

Loading the rod sufficiently is probably the second biggest thing, this i find, is assisted by throwing with a longer drop and putting that extra VOEMA into the cast.

as mentioned... Aim High

If you don't know what the level wind is then you probably don't have that one, I had the defiance 30 and it should be able to handle the 6oz and bait

Do you cast direvtly over your head in a straight forward motion, ie the over head flop. You need to lookup the pendulum cast and try to master it over time. A heavier sinker. On your current setup wil not give you more distance in my opinion. You have the 4 to 6 oz penn allegiance rod right? Casting further wil come from better technique rather than your tackle. Throwing from the side will generate more power over a wider arc like in the pendulum technique. You dont need to do the proffesional version full pendulum for fishing. South african style pendulum is adquate and should increase your distance substantially. Once you have technique, then you add a well serviced reel, thinner line, perfectly balanced setup and stiffer rods etc. Practice makes perfect, but please dont go to a field or beach and stick a flag in at your target distance. This will only create bad technique and cause frustration. Rather if you know you cast 100m put the flag at 85m i see how far you can cast past it.
Good casts come from your body, not your arms. By bending your knees and turning your hips you generate more power than just your arms. To explain- take a brick and throw it as far as you can with one arm. Then take the brick and throw it like a discuss athlete would with bent knees and using your hips in a swinging motion. Your going to throw that brick much further.

A level wind is a mechanical apparatus to wind the line level onto your reel

If you have the Defiance 30 and not one of the LW models then you will not have a Level wind

In 99% of the cases distance is restricted when anglers do not "BEND" the rod. So the most recommended and effective method to increase your distance is to put more power into the cast.

Keep the release timing of the spool the same so that the weight is released as the rod has unloaded all the stored energy into the weight. This must coiincide with the lauch trajectory of the weight being 45-52 degrees to maximise the flight of the weight

Rod ballance: rod ballance is very important for long distance surf casting to achieve rod ballance the following needs to take place good ballanced rod butt.good ballanced rod tip.to achieve a good ballanced rod butt the rod butt needs to be ballanced up using the correct reel weight .if the reel weight is to light the rod butt will then be under ballanced and if the reel weight is to heavy the rod butt will then be over ballanced how ever if the correct reel weight is used the rod butt will then be perfectly ballanced up.to achieve a good ballanced rod tip the rod tip needs to be ballanced up using the correct sinker weight if the sinker weight is to light the rod tip will then be under ballanced and if the sinker weight is to heavy the rod tip will then be over ballanced how ever if the correct sinker weight is used the rod tip will then be perfectly ballanced up.

IMO ,dont stress to much about distance ,it will come the longer you fish.16kg line might be a bit thick ,try something thinner .45 or.50 with a thicker leader.
Look at the results how many fish have I posted over the last week or two and I by no means cast far ,50m plus with my 11ft and maybe 100m with a good cast on my 14ft
