Went fishing on the farm again, Saturday for 3 hours and Sunday for 2 hours. Landed a few carp all on floaties. These buggers doesnt take the line like most dam carp (logical), they bite like kurpers. Small bites for 20min with the odd good take, so if you look away or grab a beer you will miss the take. I preferred to fish with the drag tight as i missed the strike with the first two fish in june when they ran with the bait, they also only run with it for like a second or two, once i tighten the drag i had a hook up every time i wasnt too late. These carp are moerse strong and fast.

yeah prob is getting them. Some parts of the river are very narrow and rapids and so on, for the big ones to move freely up and down the river might be tricky, all these carps had big mouths and thick lips, you could fit a golf ball in their mouths so going for bigger bait wont really solve the "problem". Apparently there is yellows in the river too, thats my next focus, maybe some crab, white dough, brown bread etc will get them on.

Basically what i have found in river systems is that fish get trapped in sections  or pockets , the only time that they can leave that pocket is when the river over flows.

Try feeding the area with hard mielies .

The best bait for yellows in teh river is their natural baits , such as crabs , grass hoppers, crickets , small platties and white as mentioned by yourself.

Good luck.
