 ^^.. Please help! I will not be able to attend a casting clinic soon. I have a Daiwa Sealine SL50SH. Can someone please give me a step by step guide to casting with this reel?

Much appreciated.

 still have the outfit? - if you do, some tips:

I summise your problem is distance & overwinds....
1. Fill your reel 2mm from the rim of the spool. Thick line reduce the spool dia very fast causing the spool to spin faster at the end of the cast than supposed too. If this happens you might hear "!@#$%"
2. If you remove the side cover you'll note 2 brake stopper on pins. Clean the copper rim on which they spin from any oil. Double up on these little stoppers if you're not familiar with overhead casting.
3.Another way of slowing the reel down is by using EP90 oil on the shaft bearings. Clean the bearings first using zippo fluid. Then dry them properly. Add a small bit of oil on the bearing. EP90 is thick - I apply the oil by dipping a small screw driver into the oil and then apply small amount by dripping from the tip.
4. Start casting with a 6oz. give the sinker enough height so that the brakes can work.
5. learn to brake the spool with your thumb on the spool and not on the line to save yourself a couple sets of fingerprints.

Gradually remove the measures as you improve eg remove slide brakes, thinner oil.
