That sounds like rietvlei zoo farm. A friend of mine goes there every now and then. Best bait is almond mielies or floaties with fx on the bol dipped in dusk till dawn or allrounder. If that does not work you can try going old school and use brownbread with egg. Sorry i havent fished the place before just going on what my friend told me. Please let us know if you have any luck.

I went about 2 months back. Blanked ... no I lie ... I caught a 5cm bass on live worm. One guy caught a small carp of about 1.5 kg's. The owner swears he's caught a 7kg carp before with the fly rod. He reckons its best to use brown bread. I saw him catch a few on the fly rod with brown bread just as we were about to leave when it was getting dark. The fish seemed very active just before dark. Its a fun place to go to if you're taking family with. I wouldn't recommend it if you're going for a serious outing. Its better to fish for trout. Just remember you gotta pay for the trout you catch.

hey fanie

been there and from what we saw everybody blanked, tried the carp, bass and trout. this was once it had just opened and were a good number of small fish dead on the surface of the water. not sure if this had anything to do wiyh the fishing.

the bass section at the bottom is quite small but saw a  gentleman get a good take but unfortunately no fish. Good luck and hope to hear the good news.

Hi Guys, Ok here is the up date on Rietvlei Farm .

On our Arival @ 07h30 we Paid the entrance fee and proceeded to the Bass area.

We played with different lures for about an hour when my mate caugt a aprox 300 Gram Bass.

I had a few Quick Bites but pulled nothing, At aprox 12h30 I pulled my first bass, but what a dissapiontment , It was the size on a baby Sardine,

This continued the hole day , and after about 25 of these small baby size jopies i dicided enough is enough. So i proceeded to the Troud Area.

And jip again the small Bass realy started to com out. Al the size of my middle Finger.

At the end of the day i ended up with around 45 -  2-3 Inch Bass, Eish.

Im going to blou pan This Comming Sunday to see if i can at least cach one decent Size Fish. I need a good reel run soon as im tired of small fish that just waste one time.

Any Sugestions on bloupan will be apreciated.

Thanks Guys

Fanie Lindeque.

carp crazee you're the first guy ive seen to actually say you caught a carp there lol .
i've been there twice in this year with some of my old school buddies, caught no carp at all but we did see a carp of about 2kg floating half dead that had wounds in its side like it had been attacked by something.. we soon got bored and started targeting those little bass. went down to the shop there and bought a few big red n white floaters and rig'd it up with a single hook and earthworms.. was kinda fun watching those little buggers knock at those floaters..
i felt like a child at his first fishing trip lol but disappointing as the carp rods stood motionless on both occasions..
the guy there says brown bread is the best bait.. would really like to go there again and try for the carp

Hi guys

I know it is very late but hey rather late then never. I've been at that dam this weekend and man oh man I don't know what they feed the bass there but there are some huge swimmers there. Got my line broken for the first time by a bass I rate that bass a +-4kg but verry aggresive!! While I was there ,there were 2 kids fishing for carp and they smashed the carp there so whatever the owners are doing they are doing it right:fishn
