![]() I stoped at Liesbeek River this morning and want to tell you that I believe the fish in that river is either not stressed about anything or on drugs. Those fish are HUGE !!!!! I'll try and take a photo tomorrow with better sun light - but has anyone seen the fish in Liesbeek and what works there to catch them ???

A good number of years back, we would also catch small rainbow trout in the Liesbeek river. Not at the River Club, but further up, right UNDER the N2. That was before they rebuilt the canal. Don't know if they're still there. Have also seen those large carp at the bridge at the entrance to the River Club, but the banks were overgrown with high weeds. No place to land a fish. To the right of the bridge, at the parking lot, is easy access and i've caught quite a few 10kg+ carp here. Just for interest sake, there use to be a HUGE populations of GUPPIES as well as some gold fish!! Obviously somebody released them from a home aquaruim into the river. I use to catch guppies and other small fish and water daphnia for food for my oscars.

Hey Guys I would really be carefull with what you take out of that water...waterborne pathogens are dangerous if you have any cuts/nicks on your hands. Many years back I too caught Daphnia and Tubifex worm from the river, it always introduced some form of parasite into my tanks!! That was donkeys years ago when I was at school in Pinelands. Now I would be rather hesitant to even put my foot into that water, let alone throw a line in there. But I might be wrong?! Take Care!!
