ive seen 110cm garrick come out along the park on the mountain side of the river. the stretch thats quite close to the bridge near the beach. also topwater bites late afternoon on the bend by the caravan park enterance. (opp side)
pm member tcp for spots around marina da gama where the 5-7kg and numerous.
heard of bass in the far end on the vlei!! hearsay
monster carp and barbel throughout.
try the canals entering the vlei.
loads of harders.
closer to the mouth - steenbras, stumpies at night
elf in season.
u can always try rutter road on the lakeside side for bass. they released 500-800 g fish last year in there.
for the garrick dont throw away a white buck tail jig!!!

I used to catch plenty of leeries in the vlei, mostly smaller fish but managed to land fish up to 12kg, but have not fished there in the last few years. I have seen guys catch plenty of fish on livebait, but i dont personally like this way as the fish are frequently hooked in the throat or stomach, but perhaps circle hooks will remedy this! I only used to use small spinners, like the ABU toby, but plugs and surface lures also work well, and some big fish have been landed on fly. I only really fished the area around the bowling green a couple of hundred metres up from the foot bridge!!

Let us know hom you fare!

Thanks guys! I cant wait! I am going with bass gear. Will this work or do I need something heavier?
Bass gear will work!! Try around the spring tides, we found back then that catches were better around then! And keep us posted with what you catch!
