Hi Guys!
I would like some advice... Lets say I happened to stumble upon a Assassin Bluefish 14ft... What reel should I pair with it?
I'm thinking something Shimano... But The new Gosa 6000 are too small and the 8/10/14000 are too big. Maybe the old black Sustain 10k or the gold Gosa F 8000? They weren't as big as the new 10 000 size Shimmys. They really should get a "7000" size reel. The size difference between a 6000 & a 8000 Shimano is too big!
I even thought the new Stradic SW 8/10K might work but then I discovered that its exactly the same reel (and therefor too big) apart from the name and a few cosmetic changes. This in itself boggles the mind... The Saragosa is a far superior reel/brand compared to the Stradic, especially when it comes to the bigger reels. So why, o why will you copy the Gosa, slap a Stradic name on and price it higher than the Gosa? Why will anyone want to buy a more expensive Saragosa SW called a Stradic SW?
The Socorro and Ultegra 10 000 might have worked, they are actually smaller than the regular 10K Shimmys (more like the black Sustain and gold Gosa) but the fact that they do not have screw in handles is an immediate disqualification for me.
A BG5000 could work but then the blue rod will clash terribly with the Balck & Gold Daiwa causing my OCD to have a hissy fit. The Saltist 5000 will work perfectly... but at the current price, I just can't justify it. I don't care what you say, the Saltist will never be in the same class as the Gosa, yet they cost the same?
A Big Boss 6000 would actually look nice but Im not completely sold on them yet. Having learned a couple of "cheap buy" lessons of the years.
So now what? Any suggestions any inputs?
