Hi all,

I serviced my bg5000 this weekend and was unable to remove the line roller as the screw was extremely tight.

any advice on how to loosen the screw to access the components ?

Hi there.
the BG 5000 has two white bushings instead of bearings in the line roller.
If it breaks a screwdriver tip I’m not sure its gonna budge. Perhaps a supersonic cleaner would help.
Its something you should regularly check up on.

I would try and heat it up a bit with a lighter but not enough to melt the bushings. Then spray it with a penetrating oil like Q20 then every hour give it a proper blasting with q20 for a day or 2 that should loosen the corrosion and give you a change to loosen the screw.

There is an American oil called Kroil, usually stocked by gunshops. I got a bottle from Safari and Outdoor in Rivonia. Trust me, it works like a bomb on anything seized or rusted in place. For best results leave to soak for a few days.
