Drag Washer change - need Guidance - Daiwa Saltiga 50

Hi All,

I would appreciate some guidance please. I've got a Daiwa Saltiga 50. The drag doesn't seem to be that strong. I'm looking to replace the drag washers with Carbontex Drag washers.

1) How do I do this? Any links or videos?
2) Is it a good idea?

Thanks in Advance

Hi Stripped

1. There is very nice tutorials on the Ultimate Angling form. It shows you how to strip and assemble reels.

2. According to me it is a very good idea to fit the Carbontex washers.

I fitted Carbontex washers in all my reels. I can not says that the drags are stronger but it is very smooth. I love it.

Hi there
Which model Saltiga do you have?
I’d definitely encourage fitting carbontex (if it doesnt already have them fitted)
Just a reminder that if and when you do,that you can fish them as is(dry)
or you can lightly grease them, use a teflon based grease. Kingfisher stocks Cal’s grease. Im sure some of the old salty sea dogs on the forum have their own concoctions or other brands they prefer.
