BASS at Coronation Dam Krugersdorp

Hi

I have discovered Coronation Dam a few months back. I took a drive there and saw people fishing. I met a laaitie there that was fishing for Bass. While I was there he caught 2 about 500g, this was in Feb this year.

I have never caught a Bass before. So I decided to go try, but no luck I blanked twice. Winter fishing from the Bank is hard. I tried Brushhogs , Some small Jerk baits, and wacky worm.

I have read that the fish is in Deep water in winter, but I don't know how deep is the dam and where are the deep spots and drop offs etc at the dam. I casted +/- 20m from the dam wall and and also close to reeds and about +/- 20m from the reeds but nothing.

Please can anyone who knows this Dam tell me where is the drop off and where is the deep parts of this dam?

Any advice on this dam will help.

I will also target Bass and Barbel in Spring, I am giving up on Winter Bassing.

:(:(

Hi, I have no knowledge of the dam, but the following might help.
Temperature will start rising in August. Bass will start moving shallow to spawn and feed. No need to fish very deep. Get a couple of flukes and fish them by varying your retrieve from dead slow, dragging the bottom to fast just below surface.
leave your sinkers at home and fish weightless.
Brushogs wil also work
Watermelon, Green pumpkin and junebug are good colours.
Watch your line carefully where it enters the water as they will sometimes just move off with the bait.
