Hi All Firstly, I'm new to the forum, so forgive me if this topic has already been covered as I'm still finding my way around navigating the forum. I recently purchased a Trinidad 30A, it's still in its box never been used, I would like to have it greased and magged before taking it for a spin on the beach. Now this leads to the following questions: 1. I definitely wanna have the reel magged although I honestly don't like the concept of drilling a hole and fitting a knob to the side plate of my reel, hence, I would like to know if there are any differences in a 'static' magged reel and a 'knobby' magged reel? And which concept performs better? And 2. who in the Cape Town region is best suited to do this? Thanks in advance Tee

The adjustable Mag is done by Jonathan Williams (Old Salt) in Cape Town and it has the advantage of being able to set for differing conditions the draw back is the hole drilled in the body of the reel and that cannot be undone. Wilhelm Kritzinger (Cuban Cigar) also in Cape Town does the MagIT and this is an internal and static system and can be adjusted but with a bit more intricacy. I have used both but as for the Model of Reel nl the 30A I find the static to be a better option and the Trini A series is one of the reel models that gains the most out of Magging

I Believe Old salt can fit his mag kit, by removing the clicker thus eliminating the need to drill. Having said that all my reels have been magged by Cuban Cigar and I love them, Trini 16A and Phathom 15 which has 75lb Braid i can Hoof this for further casts without to much fear, my other reels are DC models.

Howzit guys, I have my Trini 30A for 4 years and had the MagIT fitted in June this year, by Étienne in Durban. This reel paired with a Medium heavy Poseidon HMG, casting a 8 once grapnel...I used to get not more than 90m (due to overwinds). After the MagIT was fitted and I gradually loosened the cast control cap, I have cast up to 130m without any overwinds, and I think I could cast further if I loosen the cast control cap even more. I would recommend fitting the MagIT kit to a Trini 30 anyday.
