Hout bay

Found an old book about Hout Bay claiming they used to catch kob and steenies here.

What a shame it's not still like that. I grew up in hout bay, living there for around 20 years and never heard of anyone fishing off the beach.

I find it surprising that they talk about "Kg".In those days the world was not metric as far as I know.It was all about "pounds,shillings and pence"Weights were also pounds etc.:shock:

Ja, I've read in a old books about them "trekking" good hauls of white cracker in houtbay..Any wonder why there are none there anymore, ja hindsight being 20/20 and all.

I couldn't imagine a steenbras sucking around in that sand for some grub, I've surfed there a few times years ago and everytime we would itch for days even though we had wetsuits on. There must be so much glassfiber dumped in that sand it boggles my mind.
